FRAGRANCE STORY
The Strange Nostalgia
Some people have a vague need for new experiences. Strange how we yearn for something we barely know. We sense hunger for things we've never encountered when we envision and dream about them.
French Violette, set in a southern French town, evokes 'unfamiliar nostalgia. This little sense of familiarity will enhance your daily life.
Morning Dew, Then Fine Powdery
As the medieval town remains unchanged, Tourrettes' violets continue a long heritage. The fragrant violets of Tourrettes are carefully conserved. Organic farming and hand-harvesting have been passed down for generations.
Violets, which blossom in late winter, have a vibrancy only wildflowers have. They are very fragrant, yet their fresh greenness and powdery aroma differ from usual flower perfumes. Wet and velvety, their scent lingers.
This beautiful, intricate piece evokes an unknown urge. Enjoy southern French-inspired "strange nostalgia" daily.
ORIGIN STORY
Tourrettes: The Village of Violets
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a mountain town in Provence. Violet cultivation has been going on in this medieval town for centuries. Violets from Grasse, the "Capital of Perfume," have long been used to make perfume.
Tourrettes locals have lived with violets for decades. Violet flowers are used in fragrances, chocolates, jams, and teas, and no village event is complete without them. Wild violets are still used as children's toys in this unspoiled and ancient environment.
Collins met "neighbors" in Tourrettes we vaguely remember. They celebrate the seasons, share, and greet visitors in little squares, embodied community. Tourrettes inhabitants say violets represent "shared memories".
Wildflowers from the Mediterranean
Violet flowers blossom in Tourrettes Mediterranean-facing meadows in February, despite the winter frost. Violets appear among green fields, ending the long winter. These violets survive the Mediterranean winter and represent southern French nature's energy. The dark violet petals produced this way smell like soil and wind. Despite the numerous changes in the world, the persistent charm of the South of France and the perfume of violets have many similarities and maintain a timeless beauty.
The Violet Festival in South of France
Every year on the first weekend of March, Tourrettes hosts the Violet Festival (Fête des Violettes). Purple colors cover the village throughout this celebration. Locals are proud of their heritage and tradition. The town plaza has many violet-based perfumes, cosmetics, candies, and jams. The flower carriage parade on Saturday brings everyone together to sing, dance, and enjoy spring. Team Collins was invited to this festival by Tourrettes deputy mayor Sébastien. He loved hearing about Mood Water's preparation. He wanted to transmit southern France's vibe through Tourrettes violets.
Mood Water & French Violet
Flowers vary in shape, color, and scent. In particular, violets emit a "scent of amazement". It has a complex perfume with green leaf strength and delicate undertones. Strangely nostalgic and unfamiliar.
Team Collins analyzed the flower's scent when creating an everyday fragrance. We wanted something unfamiliar but not entirely new to add fantasy to everyday moments. After considerable effort, we created Mood Water - French Violet to share 'strange notalgia with everyone. We hope Mood Water helps you find amazement in daily life.
